It comprises
four sections: WEC Group Darwen End Stand, Walkersteel Blackburn
End Stand, Jack Walker Stand and Riverside Stand.
The Riverside
Stand was named as such because it stands practically on the
banks of the River Darwen. It provides 5,000 seats and has not been
redeveloped since 1988. This single-tiered stand has previously been
named The Walkersteel Stand and The CIS Stand. Coach company Fraser
Eagle was the last sponsor of the Riverside Stand, and it was renamed
as Fraser Eagle Stand for the 2007-08 Premier League
season.
Jack Walker Stand was named after biggest
supporter Jack Walker. The Jack
Walker Stand, opened in 1994, provides 11000 seats, and includes the
players dressing room and media conferencing facilities. The stand
is home to the Premier Suite and Pennants Lounge - the Northcote
at the Rovers Conference & Banqueting Centre, which provides
hospitality and conference management.
The
Walkersteel Blackburn End Stand,
constructed in the 1990s, holds 8,000 seats for home supporters, ,
and as its name suggests the stand is situated nearest to Blackburn
town centre. The club retail outlet "Roverstore"
is located outstand this stand. The store, which is back under control
of the football club, underwent an extensive re-development in 2008.
The home supporters ticket office and "Blues" cafe bar
is situated in the lower reaches of the stand. The Blues Cafe Bar,
which enjoys good reviews for food and drinks, can hold up to 300
people.
Outside the
stadium behind the stand is a statue of Jack Walker, and a nearby
road is named "Jack Walker Way".
WEC
Group Darwen End Stand is sponsored by a metal
fabrication and engineering company based in Darwen. The stand
has 8,000 seats, and Away supporters are accomodated in it. There
is the Northcote's "The Legends Lounge" which can house
up to 300 guests. The club radio station "Radio Rovers"
broadcast live commentary on match days. The studio is based in the
Darwen End stand with their commentary team sitting in the press box
at the top of the Jack Walker Stand. Housed in dedicated accommodation
in the Darwen End Stand is the Blackburn Rovers Community Trust.
It offers the local community access to the programme of grassroots
football, education, disability initiatives and awareness projects.
